BreastPump Comparison
The Ameda Purely Yours Breastpump is a lightweight and portable system that provides natural, comfortable milk expression that is great for frequent, daily pumping. For more than 50 years, Ameda has been a trusted name in breast pumps. The Purely Yours is a personal pump that brings the Ameda hospital pump technology to a smaller, portable pump.
The Purely Yours Breast Pump uses the FDA Approved Ameda HygieniKit Milk Collection System, which is a closed system that features a patented diaphragm, which prevents milk and moisture from entering into the pump's tubing. This saves clean up time since the tubes do not require washing after each use. The HygieniKit is made without Bisphenol-A, is dishwasher safe and can even convert to a manual pump. The HygieniKit is the only milk collection system approved by the FDA to protect against cross contamination. It also safeguards the purity of expressed milk from bacteria and viruses by keeping milk and outside air separate from one another. As a microprocessor controlled, piston pump, the Ameda Purely Yours will comfortably and efficiently express your breastmilk. According to pumping experts, piston pumps are more effective than diaphragm pumps, with regard to expressing breastmilk. With the 4 cycle speeds, and 8 suction levels, the Ameda Purely Yours gives you several options to find the most comfortable and efficient pump setting for you. Your ability to adjust the speed and suction independently of one another, also allows you to better mimic your baby’s natural nursing rhythm, which can help express more. The Medela Freestyle breast pump is the first hands free pump offered by Medela. This pump provides pumping moms with a whole new level of convenience since the the palm sized pump fits neatly in your hand and is easily operated with the touch of a button. The pump features Medela's 2-Phase Expression technology which simulates a baby's natural sucking rhythm to help stimulate and control milk flow.
The included breast flanges are designed to attach to your bra, which keeps both of your hands free and allows you to move around freely while you are pump. An included adjustable waist belt gives you the option to clip the pump motor around your waist so that you can keep both hands free while pumping and even move around to get others things done.
The included black and butter cream colored tote bag provides plenty of room to store all your pumping necessities and a removable cooler carrier.

Using the HygieniKit
Your collection kit comes preassembled in Purely Yours product packaging. If you purchased the product with the black tote bag or backpack, simply screw collection bottles onto the breast flanges
Clean collection kit parts (except tubing, white cap and white pump connector) Once all parts are clean and dry, assemble the collection kit as follows:
- Place diaphragm into piston chamber and snap white cap onto piston chamber.
Gently secure white valve into lower portion of breast flange. NOTE: Use caution when handling and cleaning the small white valve (see cleaning instructions). - Screw collection bottle onto breast flange.
- Insert white pump connector, at end of tubing, into tubing adapter input on the pump. Hold the collection kit to your breast(s) so that the nipple is aligned to extend straight toward the nipple tunnel of the breast flange.
- Make sure the breast completely fills the breast flange so that a vacuum is formed and no air escapes. The collection kit and nipple tunnel must tild slightly downward to allow milk to flow naturally toward the bottle.
To dual pump, you may use both hands to hold the collection kit against each breast. Alternatively, you may use one hand to hold one breast flange against the breast and the forearm to hold the other breast flange against the other breast.
To Single Pump:Remove one tube and close the white pump connector

To Dual Pump:Both tubes should be attached to the white pump connector.

Using the Purely Yours Electric Breast Pump

Electrical safety can only be achieved when the breast pump is connected to the AC Power Adapter supplied with the product.
Car Adapter (included with backpack style, also sold seperately)
Connecting the breast pump with a car adapter must only be made with the Car Adapter specified.
6 AA Alkaline or Rechargeable Batteries (not included)
Remove batteries if pump is not in use for a long period of time. Dispose of batteries according to regulations for environmental protection and recycling.
If batteries are in pump, but AC adapter or car adapter is in use, the pump will use the adapter to power the pump, not the batteries.
AMEDA Purely Yours Instructions-Cleaning

Unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider, follow these sanitizing and cleaning instructions
SanitizationPrior to using the kit for the first time, boil all parts of the collection kit for 20 minutes - except for the tubing, white cap and white pump connector. Remove all parts from water immediately after boiling. Completely air dry before assembly and next use.
Do not wash the tubing, white cap and white pump connector.
CleaningSet aside the tubing, white cap and white pump connector. These items do not need to be washed or sanitized because the silicone diaphragm prevents them from coming into contact with the breast milk.
The breast flange and bottles may be cleaned in the upper compartment of your dishwasher or hand washed with dish soap in hot water. For best results, Ameda recommends using a baby bottle brush to clean the bottle and a baby nipple brush to clean the insides of the breast shield. DO NOT use solvents or abrasives. Rinse with hot, clean water. All other parts of the collection kit should be hand washed to prevent loss and extend their usefulness.
Remove the white valves, breast flanges, silicone diaphragms, breast shields and collection bottles for cleaning after each use of the pump. The silicone diaphragms and white valves should be hand washed to prevent loss and extend usefulness. It is important to properly reassemble these parts for the collection kit to operate as designed with the Purely Yours or any other Ameda electric breast pump.
Completely air dry cleaned parts on a clean towel or drying rack. If they will not be used for several hours, cover them with a clean towel.
NOTE: Use caution when cleaning the small white valve. It is critical for proper suction. Do not use excessive force and do not clean with a baby bottle brush or a nipple brush. Gently wash by hand in hot soapy water and rinse under hot running water.

Boycot Nestle's Product

According the the World Health Organisation Authority (WHO) 1.5 million babies die every year as a result of inappropriate feeding. Despite this Nestlé continues to push its baby milks in breach of international standards.
Monitoring by groups on the ground around the world shows Nestlé is responsible for more violations than any other company. That's why it is singled out for boycott action.
If you don't boycott Nestlé already, I ask that you consider looking at the evidence and giving up Nestlé products, or at least its principal brand, Nescafé coffee.
The boycott has forced some changes from the company, but it is still a long way from complying. Campaigners are also working for laws. Nestlé can comply when it is given no choice. It is not being asked to do something that is impossible, but without pressure it continues to put its own profits before infant health and mothers' rights.
You can find out more information and look at the evidence yourself on the Baby Milk Action website at:
http://www.babymilkaction.org/resources/boycott/nestlefree.html
You can sign up there to support the boycott.
It is important to tell Nestlé you will be boycotting it until it accepts and acts on the plan put to it by boycott groups for saving infant lives.
You can telephone Nestlé on the freephone number0800 00 00 30 or send a message via its websitehttp://www.nestle.com/
