Petua Banyakkan Susu Badan

Kawan-kawan yg baik budiman.... =)


Entry saya yg ni nak berkongsi tentang petua-petua yg saya amalkan untuk banyakkan susu badan dan Alhamdulillah it works on me...akceli ini adalah ringkasan shj...boleh dikatakan ianya adalah CHECKLIST yg saya amalkan dan mungkin bleh menjadi guidelines kpd kawan-kawan semua. Nah...ni die antara petua-petua & tips-tips yg saya AMALKAN:-


1) DOA
Berdoalah terlebih dahulu sebelum kite nak memulakan sesuatu perkara. Mulakan dengan BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM dan mohonlah dari ALLAH swt ape yg kite hajati. Sesungguhnya ALLAH swt itu Maha Mendengar permintaan hamba-hambaNya yg betul-betul ikhlas, khusyu' & tawaddhu' memohon sesuatu drpNYA. Jgn abaikan dan lupa pd kuase DOA...anda bleh refer entry ini untuk mengetahui doa-doa yg PATUT dijadikan amalan utk breastfeeding mommies... =)


2) DIRECT FEEDING
This one is very crucial ya...(exception to exclusive expressing mommies who will have to express their breastmilk exclusively and to bottle feed their babies due to some reason). Kerap susukan bayi anda tanpa had masa yg tertentu. Offer your baby to nurse frequently. Remember that ur baby is the most effective pump machine. Tak de breastpump yg boleh tandingi "kehebatan" bayi anda merangsang dan mengeluarkan susu dari payudara. Tindakan menyusukan bayi anda dgn kerap memberi signal kpd badan bahawa lebih banyak susu diperlukan oleh sang bayi. Hasilnya, susu akan keluar mencurah2!

3) PUMPING
Yup! Discussed this for so many times again n again without fail! The need for pumping ur breastmilk out FREQUENTLY is crucial because it'll help to empty ur breast more effectively expecially after u nursed ur baby. Sometimes ur baby might not fully removed the breastmilk because he fall asleep while nursing or he got attracted to something else which made him turned away form ur breast. Then, what u've to do is to get ur breastpump and start pumping for at least 15 minutes for each breast. Dun worry if u're only "air-pumping". The purpose of pumping ur breast after the baby nursed is to STIMULATE ur breast to produce more milk. It is like u're placing an order from ur body and the body will get the message to make MORE milk!!! Ingat ye --> STIMULATION is importante!

4) MASSAGE
Rajin-rajin lah mengurut B anda untuk melancar dan menggalakkan pengeluaran susu. Ade tekniknye nak urut B kite ye..bukan simply-simply urut jer...kene dgn berhemah dan bersopan coz B kite ni mempunyai tisu-tisu yg lembut. Tak leh kasar2...Cara yg biase di suggest, ialah urut perlahan-lahan menggunakan keempat-empat jari (telunjuk, antu, manis & kelingking) dari bawah ketiak perlahan-lahan ke arah puting.Lakukan beberapa kali. Lepas tu, urut secara memutar di sekeliling B anda. Buat beberapa kali gaks. Anda boleh juga gunakan sikat rambut dgn menyikat dr bawah ketiak terus menghala ke arah puting. Dah selesai mengurut atau menyikat, "cup"kan kedua-dua B anda menggunakan kedua-dua belah tangan anda, tundukkan badan kedepan skit and goncang secara perlahan-lahan B anda. Tujuannye juz nak bagi graviti sket pd breast tu... =)!

5) FOODS & DRINKS
Amalkan pemakanan dan minuman yg seimbang. Makan lah ikut pyramid makanan yg di recommended oleh nutrionist. Jangan control makan or berdiet ye! Dun worry about getting fat because mommies yg breastfeed babynye full time tidak mudah jd gemuks.This is because while u nurse ur baby u will burn around 500 chalories per day...

"On average, exclusively nursing mothers burn about 500 calories per day above and beyond the requirement needed to maintain their body weight. And, on average, an exclusively nursing mother transfers 24 ounces of breastmilk to her baby per day. So, a good estimate would be that 20 calories are burned for every ounce of breastmilk produced".(source : askville.amazon.com)

Senang kan? X yah gi joging or kayuh beskal petang2...dok kat umah sambil baring2 pon bleh bakar kalori! Another one, dun take junk food okay. Boleh nak amik sekali sekala...but dalam kuantiti yg sedikit je la and jgn kerap sgt. Sebulan sekali sudah...bleh ke??? =p Saya boleh je...demi anak...sanggupku tinggalkan segala-galanya yg x berpekdah!

6) MILK BOOSTER/SUPPLEMENTAL HERBS
Sebelum decide nak amik booster, make sure item 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 dah betul2 fulfill ya! Jangan skip terus amik milk booster tanpa mendisiplinkan diri dgn 5 perkara di atas. Tak de makne,x de pekdah, x de macam2 x de la...Milk booster will only contribute 30% kepada peningkatan susu badan. The rest 70% adalah 5 perkara di atas. Ingat 5 perkara, sebelum 5 perkara...Hehehe....So,anda pilih. Nak susu bertambah 30% je ke ATAU nak 70% pertambahan ATAUPUN 100% pertambahan dgn mengaplikasikan kesemua petua saya yg cantik nie??? Sila refer entry ini untuk maklumat lanjut mengenai milk booster...

7) SYNTHETIC HORMONE PILLS (PROLACTIN)
Please dapatkan nasihat dan preskripsi drpd doktor sebelum decide nak amik ubat-ubat ni ye :-

a) Domperidone (recommended)
b) Maxolon
c) Metoclopramide (can cause depression)
d) Motilium
e) Raglan (can cause depression)


8) TAWAKKAL
Dah berdoa dan lakukan kesemua perkara di atas, kite sbg Muslimah, bertawakkal lah pd ALLAH swt...kite serahkan segala-galanya kpd ALLAH swt. Pokoknye, rezeki semuanya dtg dari-Nya. Kite sbg hamba, dah doa & berusaha, berserahlah dgn ketentuan yg telah ditetapkan oleh-Nya kpd kite semua....


Mulakanlah sesuatu dengan Bismillah & akhirilah dengan Alhamdulillah... =)

Pumping Schedule at Office

This is my Pumping Schedule during office hours :-

Note:
I'm double-pumping for 20-minutes per session and will make sure that i will pump for every 2-hours or 2 1/2-hours.
~ 1st session --> 9.30 am (6oz to 8.5oz)
~ 2nd session --> 12.00 pm (5oz)

~ 3rd session --> 2.30 pm (4oz)

~ 4th session --> 5.00 pm (6oz)

Hence, total i would be able to collect about 18oz to 21oz (maximum) during work time. Since i'm pumping with hands-free kit, it does not affect my work productivity at all okay! (KPI still achieved/complied with!). Pumping and drafting agreements are now have equal priority...hehehe..


In addition to that, juz to remind all my kawan-kawan...please make sure that u will be pumping for at least 3-times during office hours in order to maintain your milk supply. The decrease of pumping routine will definitely affect the production of ur milk supply...


Due to time constraint, you might have to cut your pumping time to only 10-minutes per session...it is totally fine as long as you stick with your pumping schedule. What is important is the breast milk is being removed for at least 3-hours (longest interval). The frequency of pumping is much more important (even for shorter period like 10-minutes only) rather than pumping for only 1 or 2 times per day even you're pumping for half an hour per session!

The Art of Pumping


Hehehehe..LOVESSSSS this topic damn much...eventho' i'm still in the process of mastering the so-called "art" itself. Why do i call it as an "art"? What is so "art" about it? Hehehe...continue dlm Malay Language la...lagi senang saya nak terangkan...ayat x confident dgn English sniri =)

Cam biase, saya akan terangkan isu nie berdasarkan kepada PEMBACAAN & PENGALAMAN saya sendiri ye...what i've been practised throughout my breastfeeding journey works wonderfully on me...and InsyALLAH on you...

Okay...x perlu berceloteh mak nenek panjang...ni die "Seni Memerah Susu Menggunakan Pump" yg saya maksudkan....

FIRST...
Saya akan khatamkan manual/instruction yg disertakan sekali bersama pembelian breastpump dan baca la bab yg menerangkan tentang panduan pembersihan breastpump. Bab tersebut akan explain in detail camne nak cuci breastpump for the very 1st time kite nak gune...

Biasenye, dalam instruction akan gitau camnie-->"Wash all parts of your pump kit that come into contact with the breast and breastmilk in warm, soapy water". Saya akan gunekan cecair pencuci/liquid cleanser khas utk basuh baby bottle & teat brand Pureen. Lebih CONFIDENT ye... =) Dah settle part nie, untuk pump kits/bottles/teats yang baru 1st time nak gune, saya akan STERILIZE gune sterilizerku yg cute --> Little Bean (ku tempekkan gambarnye di blog ini utk tatapan semua...=p!). Untuk barang2 yg dah pernah digunakan, lps basuh spt care di atas, sy akan bilas dgn air suam yg agak panas...juz to be confident again. Dah settle sume ni, kite gi ke step yg seterusnye!!!

SECOND...
NORMALLY, the instruction will say "Wash hands before touching breasts or bottles and avoid touching the inside of containers or lids."

My practise is i will wash my hands with soap 1st. Saya akan basuh mcm cara yang ditunjukkan kat dalam TV tu! N' keringkan kedua2 tgn saya sblm saya bersihkan sekali lagi tangan saya dengan Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer...juz to make myself confident...terpulang pd diri masing2 whether nak gune sanitizer or not...

After that, saya akan "air-dry"kan kesemua parts tu td OR lap dengan towel kecik (face towel Danish yg belum gune ye!) supaya all the parts betul2 kering sblm digunekan...pls make sure kering yeh..kalau tak, akan menyebabkan wap2 air masuk ke dalam pump motor melalui tubing and merosakkan pump anda! (For medela FS user, x de masalah back flow camnie...).

THIRD...
Saya akan assemble sume parts elok2 and make sure sume parts di pasang dgn betul kay...

FOURTH...
Duduk dgn seselesa mungkin...make sure u guys dptkan satu posisi yg x menyebabkan anda rase x selesa...sbb ianya akan effect pumping session...kite memerlukan suasana yg tenang dan gembira semasa mengepam ye!

FIFTH...
Stimulate your nipple and massage your breast. Beri rangsangan pd nipple anda dan urutan pada payudara anda..Urutan & Rangsangan nie akan mencetuskan hormon oxytocin. Ini bertujuan utk dapatkan let-down refleks (LDR) yg mane ianya sgt penting utk kite dapatkan amount susu yg banyak. At the same time, stimulation pd nipple ni boleh increase our milk production tau! For me, amalan nie sgt membantu utk dptkn LDR and it helps a lot in increasing my production...x caye cubelah!

SIXTH...
Posisikan puting payudara ke dalam corong flanges/breast shield. Make sure yg nipple betul berada di tengah2 corong untuk mengelakkan ketidakselesaan semasa proses pengepaman berlangsung...

SEVENTH...
Turn on your breastpump. Mulakan dengan suction yg slow n slowly2 increase kpd suction yg lebih tinggi..Jgn terus2 gune suction yg kuat. Suction yg terlalu kuat tak semestinye akan mengeluarkan lebih banyak susu malah akan menyebabkan tisu payudara rosak. Adjust kekuatan suction pada level yg selesa n tidak menyakitkan...Remember, pumping is not supposed to be painful...but ENJOYABLE! =)

Kalau wat single-pumping, pump selama 10-20 minit untuk sebelah breast. Depend pada individu itu sendiri. Contohnye, 20-min sebelah kanan & 20-min sebelah kiri...(saya sendiri perlukan 20-min utk betul2 kosongkan breast sebelum berhenti mengepam).

Kalau wat double-pumping, on kan je pump selama 20-min & stop bile susu dah x kuar lagi.

Ade satu lagi teknik yg saya dapat dari pembacaan saya. Anda pump selama 7-8 minit and stop. Rehat selama 2 minit. Kemudian on kan semula pump anda selama 8-10 minit. Rasionalnye kite stop selama 2 minit tadi adalah untuk memberi masa kepada breast kite utk rest sebentar and reset. Bile anda mulakan semula sesi mengepam anda akan dapat LDR sekali lagi dgn teknik ini!


Please take note:
Double-pumping will cut the pumping time to half as compared to single-pumping. Furthermore, it will also help to increase milk production because the breast is being emptied effectively simultaneously.

EIGHT....
Yg paling BEEESSSSST sekali ttg "art of pumping" nie...nie yg saya nak cerita kat sini...kuasa ALLAH swt mmg x de sape yg bleh challenge...TENGOK LAH GAMBAR BAYI ANDA SEMASA MENGEPAM...it really work wonders on me! Bile tgk gambar Danish je, trus dapat let-down and tibe2 susu kuar mencurah-curah..SUBHANALLAH...x percaya? Cube lah sniri...kalau x de gambar, bleh dengar rakaman suare bayi atau tgk video bayi anda sambil pumping...bayangkan saat2 indah bayi anda menyusu...

And lastly, masa mengepam jangan stress or nak cepat siap je..kena bertenang, selesa and gumbira...percaya atau tidak...susu anda akan keluar dgn gumbiranya jugak...hehehe...

i like the fact that since dapat title Mommy ni, saya jadi seorang positive thinker and tdk hot-tempered mcm dulu... =)

Pumping practise during confinement (Pam waktu berpantang)





Kali ini saya nak bercerita bagaimana saya berlatih bertatih-tatih memerah susu semasa tempoh berpantang di rumah emak saya di kampung....(untuk pengetahuan semua, saya mulakan latihan ini selepas 30 hari berpantang ye...)

Okay...antara sebab2 kite memerah di waktu berpantang adalah : -


1) Breast engorgement - pump untuk melegakan "B" yg membengkak


2) Bekalan sementara - Mungkin ada waktu-waktu yg kite terpaksa keluar dan meninggalkan bayi di rumah. So, kite boleh pump and tinggalkan susu perahan for our baby's consumption.


3) Stock EBM - pump utk mengumpul stok susu perahan sebagai persediaan sebelum kembali bekerja.


Cara-cara pump semasa tempoh berpantang pula adalah : -


1) Tandem pumping - sebelah payudara bagi baby nyusu, sebelah lagi pump dan dilakukan simultaneously ye..


2) Pump selepas menyusukan baby - Jangan risau & kecewa jika kite pump time ni susu x keluar or keluar titik-titik shj...mmg kdg2 kite hanya "air-pumping" instead of "milk-pumping"... Tujuan pump selepas baby menyusu ialah untuk stimulate breast and memberi signal pd body kite bahawa ada demand. Bile demand tinggi, supply pasti bertambah!


Peringatan ye...jangan beranggapan yg bile kite pump sebelum baby di susukan, nanti bile nak susukan baby susu dah takde. Tanggapan ni sangat lah SALAH ye! Percaya lah...even selepas kite pump and directly after that baby nak nyusu, susu kite still ade utk baby minum...susu kite x pernah x de...malah sentiasa dihasilkan! Tu la keajaiban yg ALLAH swt dah jadikan...


Okie...ni die jadual latihan mengepam saya semasa berpantang :-


(1) PERMULAAN...(12.30 P.M - 1.00 P.M.)
Saya mulakan latihan memerah pada waktu tengahari sebab sy dah dpt detect time baby saya tidur agak lama iaitu pd waktu thgari..so, sy start around 12.30 p.m. - 1.00 p.m.. Berjaya dilakukan lebih kurang 4-5 kali seminggu..bergantung pada bayi saya..kalau bayi saya terjaga dari tidurnye, kire "burn" la sesi latihan ni...Lg satu, pd waktu nie, saya dah settlekan sume bnda yg patut pd waktu pagi --> bertungku, mandikan and susukan baby & tidurkan die.


Rasionalnye berlatih utk mengepam pd waktu ini ialah...
Biasenye waktu begini adalah waktu lunch hour di ofis. So, sebaik-baiknye kite mengepam pd waktu lunch supaya kite x perlu curi terlalu byk mase bekerja..nanti effect work production lak...Boleh pegi beli lunch terlebih dahulu dan bawa ke tempat anda dan makan sejurus selepas mengepam atau sebelum mulakan sesi mengepam.


(2) SETERUSNYE...(4.00 P.M. - 4.30 P.M.)
Bile sy dah dpt pumping rhythm di waktu tghari, sy cube tambahkan sesi di waktu petang di antara pukul 4.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.. Time ni baby saya suka tido balik selepas disusukan. Saya make sure yg bayi saya dah di susukan kenyang-kenyang supaya die boleh tidur semula. Bila die dah tido, saya pon menjalankan projek saya...hehehe...


Rasional amik time ni utk berlatih ialah...
Di pejabat, waktu2 camni, kite dah a bit relax and because kerja2 pon dah banyak settle. (Mcm saya kalau pagi2 tu file2 agreement membukit dah tinggal 2-3 je lg nak di hadap...) Time ni kite dah nak menunaikan solat Asar pun...so, terpulang la nak pump b4 or after solat Asar ye...


(3) LASTLY...(9.30 A.M. - 10.00 A.M.)
Bile dah dah dapat rhythm mengepam pd kedua-dua waktu di atas, saya tambahkan lagi satu sesi mengepam di waktu pagi pd pukul 9.30 a.m. - 10.00 a.m.. Time ni baby saya baru je settle mandi dan nyusu. Sementara emak saya dok tidorkan cucu die, saya pon mintak xcuse utk melaksanakan projek saya...


Rasionalisasi mengepam di waktu begini ialah...
Bile dah mule bekerja, jadikan waktu ini sbg 1st pumping session anda. Sebabnye, kalau kite mulakan mengepam semasa tengahari, kite telah membiarkan "B" kite tidak di perah terlalu lama. Misal kate, kite keluar bekerja pukul 7.30 pg. Right before going out to work, kite susukan baby. Jadi, dari pukul 7.30 pg ke pukul 12.00 tghari, "B" kite tdk di perah selama hampir 5 jam!!! This is a big NO-NO ye...JANGAN BIARKAN PAYUDARA ANDA TIDAK DI PUMP/PERAH LEBIH DR 3 JAM. Jika kite biasakan rutin sebegini, dlm jangka masa yg panjang akan menyebabkan susu kite berkurengan...


NOTA KAKI :-

Please be reminded ye kawan-kawan, tak kire brp amount susu yg kite dpt pump/perah semasa tempoh berpantang, even kite cume dpt 0.5oz to 2oz per session, adalah dikire NORMAL. Jgn pressure lak bile tengok susu yg keluar sikit sgt...ianya adalah NORMAL. Reasonnye, baby sentiasa bersama kite dan sentiasa menyusu. Jd, susu yg banyak2 tu baby dah consumed.


Tujuan kite berlatih megepam/memerah semasa berpantang adalah utk membiasakan diri kite (supaya x kelam kabut bile kembali bekerja) DAN utk memberi signal kpd bdn kite utk menghasilkan susu pd waktu2 yg kite dah praktikkan tu. So, pd waktu2 tersebut la susu akan terhasil pd thp maximum. Body kite akan ikut jadual seperti yg kite dah arranged mase pantang...


Dan jika kite sedang mengepam/memerah susu tibe2 si kecik tu jaga nak nyusu, time ni ambillah kesempatan utk praktis tandem pumping. Ataupun, jika masih belum bersedia lg nak wat tandem pumping, bleh berhenti pump/perah dan susukan baby dulu. Don't worry...susu kite sentiasa akan ada dan dihasilkan...

Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors provide Breastfeeding support, guidance, and assistance to women during their prenatal as well as post-natal period, either through one-on-one and/or telephone contacts, which are based on upon their identified needs."

So, any friend that having any problem, can refer to me, as I am willing to help you as much as I could.
The breastfeeding peer counselor program, operated through local health departments, provides one-on-one counseling, information and round-the-clock guidance for mothers new to breastfeeding.
